Food Trucks For Sale Blog Series: Industry Is Far From A Get-Rich-Quick Scheme

Luckily for those future food truck owners who are looking for concession trailer space, we launched the Food Trucks For Sale Blog Series. In said series, we have been tackling things that future mobile kitchen owners can look forward to/plan for. In this article, we will tell you something that you hopefully already know: The food truck industry is far from a get-rich-quick scheme, although there might be plenty of folks out there who think otherwise.

First and foremost, future gourmet food truck owners have to drop a ton of cash initially to get the food truck running.

There is a lot that goes into that process (and don’t forget about all of the permits). One simply doesn’t purchase a truck and then start dishing out food wherever he or she would like. (Side note: You can’t just park anywhere — it’s not that easy.)

If you were making 100 percent profit, then maybe this could somehow go under the category of get-rich-quick scheme. However, more likely than not, you financed your mobile catering truck and everything else that you need to start up a food truck business. Also, you have to pay for the inventory, a worker or two’s salary and the list goes on and on. Also, you are going to be working constantly — well, at least at first. So if you think a get-rich-quick scheme involves working 12 or more hours per day, then you certainly have a different definition than we do.

Even if your mobile food truck has a killer business plan, and you get everything set up, you still have to do two things (among others): (1) Attract customers. (2) Sell food. A business plan in itself is a rather tedious process, as it should be.

Owning your own customized truck is a business.

If owning your own business led to being rich 100 percent of the time, then everyone would be opening up shop. But don’t be discouraged.

If you are looking for custom trucks for sale, consider yourself lucky. The food truck industry might not be a quick way to get rich, but it is an industry that is booming right now. That, fortunately, should be the case for a long time.
